In Danish culture the bird is a symbol of prosperity. In Denmark they used to have thatched roofs on their houses, and because they lived by the ocean they had cranes that nested on their rooftops. It is thought to be good luck to have a bird nest on the top of your business.
This logo pulls a bird design from Danish folk art in to nest in the D (for Danish) letter of this logo. The bird is red not only because the Danish colors are red and white, but because in Iowa we have red Cardinals that nest in our neighborhoods all year round!
I love the image of nesting, and the idea of building our homes and raising our families together in this little community! The image of a nesting bird brings an aspect of family, comfort and safety to mind.
The I is topped with a star that has the Danish flag stripes inside it. It reminds me of a candle that brings inspiration and a flower that represents growth.
This logo is a lettermark that can also be used with the full words beside it.
