These little gems are buzzing in to the Tivoli Artisan Market! The vibrant colors in these little brown and gold hummingbirds are lovely! The red flowers are from a bush in my yard, it is an amazing sight in the spring when there are no leaves, and there are flowers only on the inside of the bush! It flares up all red and reminds me of the burning bush, and the presence of God. These little birds are hiding their little home in the middle of it! Can you find the little nest? The Triptych is a close up study with a larger than life hummingbird that has 3 dimentional aspects to it! You have to come see this one in person at the Tivoli show in Kimballton Friday and Saturday May 28-29 to get the full effect.

This is my leaf blower painting! I am trying all kinds of new techniques lately with my paintings. This one turned out amazing! The photo doesn't do it justice, it has gold flecks in spots and it shines at different angles. I used house paint for the base, a thick coat, then I spray-painted on top of that and got out the leaf blower! As I blew the paint around if formed little continents and clouds. The best part is that after it dried it looked just like a view of earth from space.... and ... can you see the hand of God in the parting clouds? It was like a hand print! I don't think I can add anything to this, it is perfect just how it is. I am thinking about this last year as a storm over the earth. Like the flood waters of old. As this stormy trial passes and the clouds part, we can see the hand of God using it for good. We can see the lessons we were meant to learn, and how we are utterly defenseless but for the grace of God in our lives. "I am the Lord, the Maker of all things, who stretches out the heavens, who spreads out the earth by myself, who foils the signs of false prophets and makes fools of diviners, who overthrows the learning of the wise and turns it into nonsense," Isaiah 44:24-25 This painting and others are available for purchase on this website. You can see other paintings in this series here, or catch me at the May 28-29th Tivoli show in Kimballton Iowa! Thank you for joining my journey! -Deborah King This painting is from a photo of an old abandoned barn. The well sitting in front of it has seen better days. But the SKY is amazing! There is a storm rolling in to this scene, which reminded me of where we are at right now in my little town. Iowa is usually humid and wet in the summer. We get some pretty amazing thunderstorms that drench the crops and fill the earth with nitrogen from the lightning. One of my favorite things about living in Iowa is standing out on the porch watching the storm blow in! (Yes, Iowans sit on the porch sometimes when we should be in our basements!) I used to think of storms as scary and dark, but being in a place so connected to the land around us reminds me that without storms, we would have no yield. This is a place where we do "dry land farming" so there are no irrigators.... one dry year could cost us everything! Last year was a bad year for everyone, granted, but it was also unseasonably dry here in my corner of the world. It was so dry that our creek beds have islands in the middle, and the public pool is delaying opening until the well fills up more! So, with that in mind, I painted this scene. It is a little about waiting in expectation, and a little about leaving something old behind and awaiting God's blessings to fill us so we can start something new in our lives. I believe God is preparing the world for what He is about to do. A new thing that may require a new mindset. I am waiting, and I am ready to hear and receive something new. "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14 You can see more paintings in this series entitled "Showers of Blessings" here and purchase them from my website.. or come see them in person at the Tivoli Artisan Market Show!
