Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I think it is because there is little prep work needed (especially since my amazing husband does the cooking!) and not a lot of commercial hype. It is just simply about appreciating the people around me, and thanking God for His blessings.
There is always a twinge of sadness around this time of year as I remember our daughter who died Thanksgiving week, but it also makes my appreciation for my other children that much stronger.
Focusing on my blessings is a big part of what I try to express in my art. I love to paint about the little moments in life where I see God's beautiful handiwork, or God's faithful "hand at work" in the world, because those glimpses of purpose are what keep me going. Come catch a glimpse of what I have been painting recently...
You are Invited to come check out my Fall SHOW, "Season's of Thankfulness" the first two weekends in November at the Brick Wall Gallery in Harlan, Iowa. I will be one of the featured artists, along with Shane Schechinger, a woodcraft artist who makes amazing custom furniture!
We will be joined (Saturday Nov. 6th only) by 4 other artists for the SW Iowa show, "The Forgotten Artists." This show will include 20 other artists who will be showing all throughout the Harlan square. So come make a day of it Nov 6th! If you can't make it that day pop in one of these weekends and say hi, I would love to connect with you and give you a personal tour!
