It felt great to present this piece to the community for their enjoyment. Just look at all of the support from the community around me for my work! Everyone was so excited!
We decided to do the mural in the fall so I spent all winter working on the 4x6' panels in my garage. I had to wait until it was over 40 degrees in the garage so that the paint would dry! I believe that public art brings people together and unites communities around a theme or vision. I hope that the positive messages in the mural will inspire a sense of pride for where we live.
The other messages say: "Be a part of the action in Harlan, IA"
"Take 5 in Scenic Shelby County", "In Iowa it's Pop!",
"Big things start in small towns like Harlan"
"Im so glad I popped into Harlan." "Shout out from Shelby County"
"Jammin on the Harlan Square" "Picture me in Harlan" "Making memories in Iowa",
"Everyone has an important role to play, find yours in Harlan Iowa" Admit one to fields of opportunities in Shelby County"
Thanks for joining my journey!

p.s.- Can anyone tell me what song the headphones are listening to?
