Yesterday we got to go to church, it was so nice to see everyone. Now I am wondering if that will be the last normal day we have for a while. Pastor Joe talked about fear, and he reminded us of this verse...
Phil 4:4-9 “ The Lord is near.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
My friend and I were trying to come up with a way to reassure our kids. We need something to celebrate, something to find the fun. So I have decided, in keeping with this verse, we are going to choose to be thankful and pray, and do an art project to help ground us.
Every day we are going to choose something to thank God for. We are going to make a thankfulness chain to anchor our lives to the goodness of God in this crisis. Our link to sanity. Each of us has a color of paper, and we get one ring a day to write down our thanks to God for what He has given us.
So on day one I am thankful for….. The Internet
I always thought that in hard times we would all pull together. But this isolation thing is killin me. We need each other more now in times of fear. We need reassurance, and hope, and someone to laugh and cry about this with. So I am thankful, so thankful for facebook, and the internet, so that we can connect and commisorate, and send each other toilet paper jokes. It feels like a lifeline. Thank you God for the internet!!!!
The kids are thankful for: Mommy, Toys, the Bible & Transportation. Daddy is thankful for his job.
I am so thankful that we had a day for national prayer! We need to cry out to God for help. He is the one who can stop this chaos spiral.!! The verse that has been on my heart is 2 Chronicles 7:14 “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
During this Lenten season, we are going to pray. We are praying for those who are sick, that this pandemic will be cut short and stop spreading. We are asking God for wisdom, for our leaders to make good decisions, that God’s will be done, that He will show us how to do good and share His love with others during this time. Praying for an amazing Easter celebration. Wouldn’t it be great if by Easter we had quarantines lifted and cases stopped spreading, and we could come together and have a great big celebration of Jesus conquering the grave?
Please pray with us, and remember to find little things to be thankful for. It helps so much to remember that we have been so blessed, even in the midst of this. I challenge you to keep this thankfulness chain going!
