About Daniel:
Daniel was a nobleman's son who was a P.O.W. deported from Jerusalem to Babylon in 605 B.C when he was 16 years old. He was hand picked for government service and ended up being promoted to a high political position in his new country. God's hand of wisdom and revelation was on him, and he served some of the most powerful kings in the ancient world. Each of them had their own agendas, platforms, strategies, and each worshiped other gods.
Daniel had little control over who took over as king, but he had a good attitude, and each king saw something special in him and realized he was a good and wise leader. Daniel was a constant advisor in government through them all, and even though it was difficult, he remained faithful to the Lord no matter what the current laws or kings demanded. His witness and example in the way he lived out his faith was always consistent.
This painting is from this verse where Daniel said,
" Praise the name of God forever and ever, for he has all wisdom and power. HE controls the course of world events; He removes kings and sets up other kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the scholars. He reveals deep and mysterious things and knows what lies hidden in darkness, though he is surrounded by light. " Daniel 2:20-22
It reminds me that no matter what happens in this election, God is in control! It gives me hope to know that God uses and directs kings and presidents (good ones and evil ones!) to make sure His plan unfolds for the world, even if they are not whom I would have chosen. He is able to keep them in check!
So as I am researching and praying about who to vote for in the upcoming elections for senators and representatives and for President I am going to try not to worry or panic about how it will turn out. It's my job to be faithful in what I can do, cover it all in prayer, and trust God to work it out.
