This painting was a special Christmas commission. It is the house that this family built, the home place in Iowa for the Thygesens. The house is welcoming the morning light with all of the family already awake and beginning their chores for the day. The two cardinals watching the sunrise represent the grandfathers watching from heaven. Can you find some other symbols of love and peace hidden in this painting?
I like being home for Christmas. We were going to travel to see family, but we ended up staying home with fevers for Christmas this year. Which was ok, although miserable for a little while, but we got to play games and watch movies and wear our pjs, so it all worked out. Later our family came to see us, which was a blessing. We have been so busy this holiday season with family, school, and church stuff that I was glad to stay home and get a break from some responsibilities.
I kind of think that maybe, if I took more intentional breaks to recharge and take care of myself I wouldn't get as sick. Take more bubble baths...Maybe? Drink more tea with my friends? What do you do to de-stress and re-charge? let me know in the comments or pm me. I hope you had a restful Christmas!
