It was a picture of their old family church in Massachusetts. She wanted me to finish it so that she could present it to her as a Christmas present.
Using the original lines meant that I couldn't re- position anything, even though the photo and the painting weren't exactly the same perspective. There was already a style emerging, so I tried to stay true to it. I painted acrylics over oils, which is tricky and has to be sealed correctly before it is finished. The perspective was tricky, but I tried to go for an overall feeling and capture the main lines and textures.
In the end, it looks like a high school art project that was started and finished, which was the goal after all!
