This client wanted to hang it in her room, to remember her vacation, so she asked me to recreate it in a painting. Using the blue and warm gray undertones found in the client's home, I began recreating this place from multiple photographs to capture it.
I dabbed and scraped the paint on the rocks, and dripped and rippled the paint on the water to get the textural effects found in this painting. I didn't want it to just look like the photo, I wanted it to have it's own feeling to it, to communicate the movement in that moment and the air at this magical place.
I enjoyed working with the layers in the background and the reflections and ripples in the water. Looking at this painting makes me want to hop in a boat and float over to those mountains and explore them!
This commissioned work is based on a vacation photo. If you have a photo that you would like made into a piece of original artwork for your home let me know! I'd love to work on something special for you.
